If you're a current Canadian Dental Care Plan member, there's an important action item: the renewal window for the 2026–2027 benefit year is open now, and the application deadline is April 14, 2026.
If you miss that deadline, your coverage ends on June 30, 2026 — and there's no retroactive coverage after that date.
Applications for the current benefit year close April 14. If you haven't applied or renewed yet, act immediately. Missing this date means no CDCP coverage until the next benefit year opens in June.
The Deadline Is Real
CDCP operates on an annual benefit year cycle. Each year, members must confirm their continued eligibility — income, insurance status, and tax filing — before they can access coverage for the coming year.
Key 2026 dates:
- April 14, 2026 — Last day to apply for the 2025–2026 benefit year
- April 15 – June 1, 2026 — Renewal window for the 2026–2027 benefit year
- June 30, 2026 — Coverage ends for anyone who doesn't renew
- June 2, 2026 — New applications open for the 2026–2027 year
How to Renew
Renewals are processed through Service Canada:
- Online: Log into your My Service Canada Account (MSCA) at canada.ca
- By phone: Call 1-833-537-4342
- In person: Visit a Service Canada centre
You'll need your Social Insurance Number, your most recent Notice of Assessment from CRA confirming your income, and confirmation that you still have no private dental insurance.

Use Your Benefits Now
If you're in the current benefit year, there's no reason to wait. Your exam, cleaning, X-rays, and any fillings or other covered treatment are available now. Many patients wait until they're in pain to use their coverage — by which point a simple filling may have become a root canal.
